4 Major Social Insurances for Employed Foreigners

Estimated time: 30 min read

Employees in Korea — including most foreign workers — are required to enroll in the four major social insurances: National Pension (국민연금), National Health Insurance (건강보험), Employment Insurance (고용보험), and Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance (산재보험). Your employer handles enrollment and withholds contributions from your salary. National Pension contributions can be refunded upon departure if your home country has no reciprocal agreement with Korea — submit a claim at the NPS office. Verify enrollment within the first month of employment. This is procedural information only.
