How to Extend Your Visa Stay Period

Estimated time: 90 min read

If you wish to remain in Korea beyond your current visa's permitted stay, you must apply for a stay extension at the local Immigration Office before your current permission expires — ideally at least 4 weeks in advance. Required documents vary by visa type (D-series students typically need an enrollment certificate; E-series workers need employer documentation). Submit the application form, passport, ARC, relevant supporting documents, and fee at the Immigration Office or via HiKorea online. Late applications may incur fines. Overstaying is a violation of immigration law.
