Getting a Korean SIM Card (Postpaid / MVNO)
Estimated time: 45 min read
Foreigners with an ARC can sign up for a postpaid plan at SKT, KT, or LG U+ stores, or use an MVNO (virtual operator) such as KT M Mobile, U+ Mvno, or HelloMobile — typically cheaper and available online. Required: ARC and passport. Without an ARC, you can purchase a prepaid (선불) SIM at convenience stores or airport kiosks using only your passport. Postpaid plans require a credit check and Korean bank account. The SIM is necessary for bank verification (OTP), government portal login, and most app sign-ups.
