How to Apply for an Alien Registration Card (ARC)

Estimated time: 120 min read

Foreigners staying in Korea for more than 90 days must apply for an Alien Registration Card (ARC) at the local Immigration Office within 90 days of entry. Required documents: passport, visa, application form (available at the office), 3.5x4.5cm photo (2 copies), fee of KRW 30,000, and proof of residence. You can make an appointment via HiKorea (www.hikorea.go.kr) to avoid long waits. Processing typically takes 2–3 weeks. The ARC is required for opening a bank account, enrolling in health insurance, and signing a lease. This guide provides procedural information only.
